Remember Remember-our topic this half term

To begin with there was bonfire night and fire works so the children made Guys in class with Mrs Vowels. With me they made group collages of a fire. Later they drew chalk fire works which they labelled in welsh.
The children loved their trip to the Fire Station and learnt a lot as well as enjoying themselves. They loved trying on the helmets which still smelt of smoke from the emergency that the fire fighters had attended the previous night in LLandow. Jim, the boss, let them use a thermal imaging camera and the results were quite surprising. Very hot things come up as very white. The children stuck their tongues out for the camera and some were white and some not! When Jim put on the sirens and lights it was very loud, but the children loved it. The children were taught about fire safety and they learnt that if the smoke detectors in their houses didn't work the fire service would come and fit new ones for free. So give them a ring if yours is on the blink.
Following our trip the children wrote about it and typed it up on the computer choosing a photo from the trip to go with it. At the moment, the children are enjoying playing with the small world fire fighters we bought and have helped to make a fire station to play with them in.
This week we've been writing fire poems using powerful wow words that the children thought of.
