Kites, kites, kites

PpClass 3 have been very busy making kites. First they had to learn all about the different parts of a kite. They learned about the shape of the sail and the need for a tail to give balance. They investigated the types of material that would make the best sails. Then they made prototypes.

They tried out their prototypes. Unfortunately the weather was against us!!

Finally they designed and made their kites. All we need now is the correct weather to fly them!

Museum Trip

Class 3 really enjoyed their trip to Cardiff Museum on Tuesday. The children were able to handle dinosaur fossils and saw dinosaur teeth and footprints too. We also went around the Evolution of Wales exhibition where the children got to see lots of dinosaur skeletons and a life size model of a Woolly Mammoth mother and baby.
On the way back home we had a tour around Cardiff City Centre and Cardiff Bay. The children were all really well behaved. It was a pleasure taking them!

Here are some photos of the children having lots of fun using the Beebots.

Food, Food, Food!

This week in Class 3 we have been finding out all about food. The children have learned about food that is healthy and food that isn't healthy and should only really be eaten now and again. The children have also learned that different foods do different jobs and to be healthy they need to eat a variety of foods. They particularly enjoyed doing a fruit tasting activity. Finally the class did a survey of their favourite fruits and the winners were.. strawberry and melon! Well done.

A New School Year

Class 3 have had a very busy week this week. On Tuesday we went on a village walk. The children followed a route on a map and identified various landmarks. We looked at the shops and finally enjoyed a visit to the park.

Today we had a really interesting visit from Brace's Bread. The children listened to a talk about how bread is made and the importance of Healthy Eating. They also got to make a loaf of bread. They mixed the ingredients, proofed it, baked it and finally ate it. We all agreed it was absolutely delicious!
