Out and About with Mr Francis!

On Monday we went on a walk around the village with Mr Francis. We wanted to find out about all the schools there used to be in Llanharry

First Mr Francis took us to the Church where he told us the children had to sit on the stone benches inside the porch, in order to learn to read and write.

Then we went to the old school room in The Bear.

Finally we visited Peniel Chapel Vestry.

We all had a really enjoyable afternoon. All the boys and girls were very well behaved and listened carefully to Mr Francis. They learned a lot about the history of schools in Llanharry.

First Week Back!

What a busy week it's been!
We are in the middle of preparing for the school's centenary. In class this week the children have been talking about what games they like to play at school at playtime. They have written poems which they will be reading in the school's special assembly on 26th April. They will be spending the next few weeks finding out what games children enjoyed playing in school 100 years ago. ( To support this investigation we will be visiting the Rhondda Heritage Park on Tuesday 23rd April).
The children have also been really busy doing their art work for the Community Art Competition.

St David's Day Celebrations

Class 3 took part in the school's St David's Day Eisteddfod on Friday. We all enjoyed singing our class song 'Awn i'r Syrcas'. Well done to everybody for taking part and trying their best in the Art, Handwriting and Recitation competitions. Finally a special well done to the three children who each represented their house on stage for the Recitation.

Techniquest Visit

We all really enjoyed our day out at Techniquest last Thursday. The children took part in a fun Maths based workshop called  ' At The Circus' where they used their numeracy skills to help Delyth the Dragon to put the circus back together! The children also really enjoyed exploring all the 'hands on' exhibits in the gallery!!
